It’s been a busy time in Brookside! Thumbs were greening on April 5 for horticulturist and homeowner Paul Split’s planting demonstration; Mystery Movie Nights in Mashpee continue to be enjoyed; and bowling at Timber Axe and Bowl is very fun – with another evening coming up on May 29.
Upcoming excursions and events include a tour of the Cape Cod Visitor’s Center, followed by a lobster roll picnic on May 21; the pool opening party on June 7, with food, libations, and ukelele music to set the tone for the Hawaiian theme; Father’s Day donuts and coffee at the pool on June 15; a tour of the Falmouth Historical Museums, led by Joe Mattingly, followed by lunch in town; and ongoing Rummikub on Mondays from 6:30-8:00.
And golf! Wed., June 25th, it’s a residents’ only Brookside Golf Opener, starting at 12:30. The annual Brookside Memorial Cup Open is on August 6. And there’s a Brookside Friends and Family Outing on Sept. 19. After the day on the links, everyone gathers at the pool; and rumor has it that hanging at The Bog may happen also!
Of note is that Brookside’s “Poet Laureate” Jack DeWitt will be reading from his most recent book of poetry at The Jonathan Bourne Library on June 10 at 6:00 PM. Jack is a well-regarded and prolific poet, professor, and writer (“At Witt’s End” in the Bourne Enterprise). Another talented Brooksider, sharing his knowledge with us!
