Training Ship Kennedy Sails to Houston
Our neighbor, Mass Maritime Academy in Buzzard Bay, sent its training ship “Kennedy” to Houston this week to house (600?) FEMA workers during the Hurricane Harvey cleanup. Great resource to share! I wonder if the next berth will be in FL…
Monthly Meeting – August 29, 2017
The meeting began with a financial report, noting that there is $1,900,000 in the reserves. Legal expenses were expected to be around $70,000, but so far are only $1,000. The forecast for the profit and loss statement is in progress. In addition, Mutual of Omaha (which holds the reserve fund), is looking at different certificates of deposit with higher interest rates for the money.
The Board has not yet voted on the 2018 budget, and is encouraging homeowner comment tonight. The new board will decide on the budget. Insurance is expected to go up. In addition to the usual operating expenses, the board is allocating funds for exterior lighting repairs; modifying the garage for attic storage; the painting contract; and increased landscape and trash expenses. In addition, snow removal will be going to a new contract.
Annual Yard Sale on the Green
All that “stuff”? Let it have new life with new owners, and take out a table at the annual YARD SALE on the Green (next to the pool). $25 per table, 2 for $40. I moved along a lot of stuff when I took a table, it’s worth doing! make checks payable to Brookside Social Committee, and send or deliver to J Heckler, 24 Brookside Rd., or K Pratt, 7 Amberwood Court.
At the Matouk Factory Outlet in Fall River
Saw this stunning flag yesterday at the Matouk Factory Outlet in Fall River. They make and source luxury linens. This was made and signed by Lulu, who works there. (I wonder if the US is her adopted country.) She’s created a gorgeous statement; it stopped my world when I saw it.
